LinkedIn’s native interface is designed mainly for individual unfollows. For a large cleanup, first decide who you want to keep, test the criteria on a sample and use a reversible, pauseable process rather than one-click “unfollow everyone.”
The native method
Go to My Network → Following & followers and review the list. Use the Following control beside an account to unfollow it. This is appropriate for a short list and keeps each decision explicit.
Why “unfollow everyone” is usually a bad rule
Your list may contain former colleagues, clients, founders, subject-matter experts and personal contacts. A universal action saves clicks but ignores context. It can leave your feed empty without making it useful.
Write Keep criteria before Remove criteria
Begin with people and affiliations that deserve protection. Then define the patterns you want less of. This order reduces accidental false positives and makes review faster.
Calibrate on a sample
Review a representative group before analyzing the complete list. Correct recommendations and adjust strictness. If the sample is poor, do not proceed merely because the tool has already spent time processing it.
Understand platform limits
LinkedIn controls its platform and can change interfaces or restrict automated behavior. Keep sessions manageable, stop when LinkedIn displays a warning and review the platform’s current terms before using any third-party extension.
Important
LinkedIn states that it does not permit browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of or automate activity on its website. Read its prohibited software and extensions policy before deciding whether to use such a tool.
Frequently asked questions
Does LinkedIn have a Select All unfollow button?
LinkedIn’s standard experience does not generally provide a universal one-click unfollow-all control. Available features may vary.
Should I unfollow all my connections?
Usually not. Preserve relevant relationships and sources, then remove only what does not fit your current interests.
Can bulk unfollowing affect my account?
Automated activity can conflict with LinkedIn’s rules and may lead to restrictions. Review LinkedIn’s current terms and any warnings shown on your account.
